Welcome to The Taco Shop Review. I'm currently reviewing taco shops in south Orange County, CA. Surfing and eating Mexican food are important activities, so it's important to review taco shops. The greasier, the grungier, the better.

The Jack in the Box Taco

Jack-in-the-Box (JB) has, in my opinion, the closest thing to a "taco shop taco" of all traditional fast-food vendors. This taco goes way back. It has a cult following. I get the feeling that a JB supplier literally assembles these tacos elsewhere, freezes them, and ships them to JB. When you order one, the JB cook simply dunks two frozen tacos in a deep fryer and then places them in a small paper bag. I include this taco for these reasons:
- corn tortilla
- some kind of shredded or ground spam type of meat (or soy/meat mixture)
- a bit of cheese
- it's wholly deep fried
- simply tastes killer and is dripping hot grease
- the overall ghetto-factor of this taco is almost off the chart

There was even a time when JB was going to drop this taco, and there seemed to be a major revolt by their loyal taco-eating customers. I've heared of people ordering/sending these tacos through the mail to craved eaters. I won't ever do a formal review of the JB taco, but it's a reliable standby when you don't have access to a true taco shop. Caveat: no beans or rice with this taco.
